Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, and your UK GDPR rights.

Who controls your data
VirtualGhost is the data controller for VG Live. This notice is written for the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. If you are in the EEA, the same standards are applied as a matter of policy.
We are not Discord, Twitch, or YouTube. Those companies are separate controllers for the data you already have with them. We only see what you authorise through Discord login and Discord connections.
What we collect
Account: Discord user id, username, avatar, email Discord provides to the login, and when that Discord account was created.
Connections: Twitch and YouTube usernames and ids linked on your Discord account, used to prove you are one person for giveaways.
Giveaways: entries, codes you redeem, timestamps, and whether you were drawn as a winner.
Integrity: a one-way hash of the network address we see when you use a signed-in page, plus flags and reasons if the account looks like an alt (new Discord account, same hash as another login, or the same Twitch/YouTube on two Discords). We do not store the raw IP.
Session: cookies needed to keep you signed in. See the Cookie Policy.
We do not ask for payment card data on VG Live today. If a store checkout is added later, that payment data will be handled by the shop provider, not stored in full on our servers.
Why we use it (lawful bases)
Contract: creating your account, showing your profile, letting you redeem codes, and running a giveaway you entered.
Legitimate interests: keeping the site secure, stopping multi-account farming, debugging, and understanding whether a Twitch channel is live or how many subs it has (channel data, not your private Twitch password).
Legal obligation: keeping records where tax, consumer, or prize-draw rules require it.
We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Who we share it with
Discord, to sign you in.
Twitch and YouTube, only as needed to embed players, read public live status, and (for our channel) sub counts. We do not post to your Twitch or YouTube as you.
Hosting, database, and authentication providers that process data on our instructions to run VG Live.
A winner’s Discord name may be announced on stream or on the site. We will not publish your email.
International transfers
Discord, Twitch, and YouTube may process data in the United States and other countries. Where UK GDPR requires a transfer tool, those platforms rely on their own published mechanisms (such as standard contractual clauses). Our hosting may also store data in the UK, EU, or another region used by the host.
How long we keep it
Account and giveaway records are kept while the account is open and for a reasonable period after (typically up to 24 months) so we can handle disputes, alts, and prize claims. Session cookies expire according to the Cookie Policy. You can ask us to delete your account data; we may retain a minimal record if we must (for example a ban or an unpaid prize dispute).
Your rights
You can ask for access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection, or portability of your personal data, and you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
To use these rights, contact VirtualGhost on Twitch or YouTube from an account we can match to your Discord login, or sign in and use the account page as proof of identity. We may ask for enough information to confirm it is you.
You can disconnect Twitch or YouTube under Discord Settings → Connections, then sign in again so VG Live refreshes. You can sign out at any time. Deleting your Discord account is controlled by Discord, not by us.
Children
VG Live is not aimed at children under 13. Giveaways are 18+. We do not knowingly collect giveaway entries from anyone under 18.
